NLC Land Acquisition: PMK Protest Turns Violent Following Anbumani Ramadoss’ Detainment

Chennai: Following his speech at the protest site, Anbumani Ramadoss and other PMK leaders and supporters attempted to picket in front of the NLC (Neyveli Lignite Corporation) office premises in opposition to the land acquisition.

The PMK cadres vociferously protested against the NLC’s acquisition of wetlands and agricultural lands, which led to some of them being detained by the police. However, when Anbumani Ramadoss himself was detained, the situation escalated, and the workers resorted to violence, causing damage to two police vehicles’ windowpanes.

As tensions intensified, the protesters threw stones and plastic bottles at the police, even attempting to block the vehicle carrying Ramadoss. In response, the police resorted to a lathi-charge to disperse the crowd.

The confrontation resulted in chaos, with clashes between the police and the agitated cadres, leading to the exchange of blows and the cadres pelting water bottles and stones at the law enforcement officers.

It’s important to note that the PMK has been at the forefront of the fight against NLC’s acquisition of agricultural lands and wetlands, and their strong opposition was evident in the violent protest at the NLC office.
