New Delhi: In the midst of the ongoing violence in Israel triggered by Hamas attacks, a second flight under ‘Operation Ajay’ has successfully brought back 235 Indian nationals to New Delhi. Minister of State for External Affairs and Education, Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, extended a warm welcome to the returning citizens at the airport.
The Ministry of External Affairs expressed its commitment to the continued efforts of ‘Operation Ajay,’ emphasizing the mission’s role in repatriating citizens. They noted, “#Operation Ajay continues to bring citizens home. 2nd flight carrying 235 citizens arrives in New Delhi.”
Singh expressed his satisfaction with the swift and efficient response of the Government of India and the Ministry of External Affairs in coordinating the safe return of Indian citizens from Israel.
The first flight, carrying 212 Indian nationals, had taken off from Ben Gurion International Airport in Israel on Thursday and arrived in New Delhi on Friday morning. The Indian government is bearing the cost of repatriating its citizens.
In response to the ongoing situation in Israel and Palestine, the Ministry of External Affairs has established a 24-hour control room in the national capital to monitor the evolving circumstances. According to data from the Israel embassy, approximately 18,000 Indian nationals, including caregivers, students, IT professionals, and diamond traders, are living and working in the country.
