OSSC Question Paper Leak Case: Show-Cause Notices Issued to 55 Candidates

Balasore : The Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) has taken a strong stance against the recent question paper leak incident that occurred during the main written examination for the recruitment of 1008 JE (civil) Group-B posts in various government offices of Odisha. Following an investigation into a fake job racket case, it was revealed that the question paper for the JE (civil) recruitment main examination was leaked prior to the scheduled test on July 16, 2023.

In response to this serious matter, the OSSC has issued show-cause notices to 55 candidates who are suspected to be involved in the unfair practice of using the leaked question paper. The Commission, in coordination with the Balasore police, is also making efforts to link the remaining 37 candidates with their respective applications to initiate appropriate action against them.

The gravity of the situation has prompted the OSSC to seek further information from the Balasore police to establish the links between the candidates and the leaked question paper. The Commission is committed to taking exemplary action against all those found guilty of participating in such malpractices, including the leaking of exam questions.

As part of the corrective measures, the OSSC has decided to cancel the main written test conducted on July 16 and has scheduled a fresh examination for the JE (civil) Group-B posts on September 3, 2023.

During the ongoing investigation, the police have already apprehended 17 individuals, including the mastermind, Vishal Kumar Chaurasia, and a printing press staff, responsible for leaking the question paper.

According to Balasore SP Sagarika Nath, the accused had struck deals with certain candidates to provide them with the leaked question paper on the night of July 15 or the morning of July 16. After the examination, if the questions matched, the candidates were asked to pay half the agreed amount immediately, with the remaining half to be paid after the results were declared. This arrangement allowed some candidates to obtain the leaked question paper and gain an unfair advantage.

In response to this unfortunate incident, the OSSC is determined to ensure the integrity of the recruitment process and maintain a fair and transparent system for all applicants.
