Kiev: Reports have emerged stating that the Trypilska Thermal Power Plant (TPP), situated outside the Ukrainian capital, has been obliterated in a missile attack carried out by Russia. Andriy Hota, Chairman of the supervisory board at the Ukrainian power plant Centrenergo, revealed that a devastating fire broke out in the turbine room of the plant following the attack, as reported by news agency on Thursday.
Fortunately, Hota confirmed that all the workers present during the strike have survived, though efforts to extinguish the raging fire are currently underway.
The Trypilska TPP, boasting an installed capacity of 1,800 MW, stands as the largest power generating facility in the Kiev region. Its destruction marks a significant blow to the region’s energy infrastructure.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the missile onslaught from Russia included 42 missiles, comprising six Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles and 40 combat drones. Ukrainian defenses managed to intercept and down 18 missiles and 39 drones.
Authorities in Ukraine have stated that the attack targeted energy infrastructure facilities across five regions, exacerbating concerns over the escalating conflict’s impact on critical infrastructure and civilian populations
