Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 8 (IANS) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Kerala president Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Thursday asked Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan to clarify the Congress national leadership’s alleged stand that the Kerala government was not “legally” elected.
He said the Chief Minister should make his position clear to the people of Kerala.
“If the Congress national leadership has taken such a position, the Chief Minister should clarify it,” Chandrasekhar, who is also an MLA, said.
He said the Chief Minister should not remain silent on the issue.
Chandrasekhar was speaking at the BJP’s ‘Mission 2029’ state leadership meeting in Thiruvananthapuram.
He said the BJP had emerged as a political alternative in Kerala.
The narrative that the BJP could not win elections in Kerala had changed after the recent Assembly election, he claimed.
“We have to strengthen the feeling among the people that the BJP is the main Opposition in Kerala,” he said.
He said the 2029 election would be crucial for the country and called on party workers to begin preparations immediately.
The party should work to ensure victory in all areas, he added.
Chandrasekhar said service to the people should be the basis of the BJP’s politics.
“Posting on Facebook alone will not bring political results,” he said.
Party workers should reach out to people, understand their problems and explain the party’s policies and the development initiatives of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He said every vote was important for the BJP and the party should reach out to every section of society.
Chandrasekhar also attacked the United Democratic Front (UDF) government in Kerala.
He claimed that the government had completed 140 days but had failed to deliver on its promise of a new Kerala.
Instead, people were facing power cuts, price rise, unemployment and a lack of development, he alleged.
M. Nagaraj, BJP Kerala in-charge and Rajya Sabha member, and M. Venkateshan, BJP Kerala co-in-charge, also attended the meeting.
They were received at K.G. Marar Bhavan before attending the BJP Core Committee meeting and the Mission 2029 state leadership meeting.
