State to Fund Mangaluru Dasara From Next Year, Says Dinesh Gundu Rao

Mangaluru: This year’s Mangaluru Dasara at Kudroli Sri Gokarnanatheshwara Temple has been celebrated with grandeur rivaling Mysuru Dasara. State Religious Endowments and Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy praised the festival, calling it “a symbol of pride for the country” under the guidance of former Union Minister B. Janardhan Poojary.


Government to Fund Mangaluru Dasara From Next Year

Dakshina Kannada District In-charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao announced that the state government will discuss providing funds for Mangaluru Dasara on the lines of Mysuru and Madikeri Dasara. Art troupes will also be sent to participate in the festival procession.

Janardhan Poojary’s Leadership Elevates Festival
Former Union Minister Janardhan Poojary, who presided over the inauguration, was lauded for his role in enhancing the festival’s scale and splendor. “Poojary is an unparalleled organizer and guide for political leaders. Under his leadership, Mangaluru Dasara grows grander each year,” said Reddy.

Kudroli Emerges as Cultural Hub of Dakshina Kannada
Assembly Speaker U.T. Khader emphasized Kudroli’s cultural importance. “Religious faith is not weakness; it is the strength of this land. No religion should become a sword that wounds. India’s soul lies in unity in diversity, and we must follow that path,” he said.

Dasara Awards Honour Social and Educational Contributions
The Dasara Honorary Award 2025 was presented to Dr. M. Mohan Alva, Dr. Tukaram Poojary, and Dr. Durga Prasad MR. The Asamanya Stree Puraskar was awarded to Shalet, recognized for her care of mute animals.
