Telangana to Roll Out Indiramma Housing Scheme on March 11

Hyderabad: The Congress-led government in Telangana is set to launch the Indiramma housing scheme aimed at assisting the underprivileged on March 11. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy made the decision on Saturday and instructed officials to facilitate the necessary preparations for the launch.

Under this initiative, the government plans to offer Rs 5 lakh in financial aid for the construction of houses to individuals who already own residential plots. For those without land, the scheme will provide both a piece of property and Rs 5 lakh to facilitate housing.

Emphasizing the scheme’s significance under the umbrella of six guarantees, the Chief Minister highlighted its status as a flagship program. Alongside Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, and Chief Minister’s Advisor Vem Narendra Reddy, Reddy convened a review meeting to outline guidelines for the scheme’s implementation.

Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari, R&B Secretary Srinivasa Raju, and other officials also participated in the discussions. Reddy directed officials to ensure that housing benefits reach all eligible individuals without homes and instructed them to finalize the guidelines accordingly.

He urged officials to prioritize applicants from the Praja Palana and cautioned against the repetition of past mistakes in the construction of double-bedroom houses, emphasizing the importance of assisting genuine beneficiaries.

At the meeting, a tentative decision was made to allocate 3,500 houses to each constituency. Reddy expressed optimism that the scheme would gradually fulfill the aspirations of homeless individuals to own their own homes.
