Those who want to leave the party should go, says Gehlot

Jaipur: Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot made headlines on Friday as he vacated the official Chief Minister’s residence, marking a significant move three months after the Congress lost power to the BJP in the Assembly polls.

Gehlot relocated to bungalow No. 49, which served as his residence during his tenure in opposition from 2013 to 2018. Notably, this bungalow is situated directly opposite former CM Vasundhara Raje’s residence.

Addressing queries from the media regarding party members leaving the Congress, Gehlot responded candidly, stating, “Those who want to leave the party should do so promptly. Individuals who no longer wish to remain affiliated with the party are encouraged to depart. Furthermore, those facing pressure from investigative agencies such as the ED and CBI should also consider leaving.”

He clarified that Rajasthan CM Bhajan Lal Sharma did not request him to vacate the official CM’s residence, shedding light on the decision-making process behind his relocation.

Gehlot’s remarks underscore a shift in the political landscape, indicating a readiness to embrace changes within the party structure amidst shifting alliances and challenges.
