Two More Fatalities in Kerala as Wild Animal Attacks Persist

Thrissur: Tragedy struck once again in Kerala as two individuals fell victim to attacks by wild animals, adding to the grim toll of human casualties. Following the recent incident where a woman was fatally crushed by a wild elephant in Ernakulam district, another distressing episode unfolded.

In Kozhikode, 70-year-old Abraham succumbed to injuries sustained in an attack by a wild gaur at Kakkayam on Monday afternoon. Despite medical efforts, he passed away at the Kozhikode Medical College hospital on Tuesday evening.

Meanwhile, in Thrissur, Valsala, aged 64, tragically lost her life as she was collecting forest produce near a forest area. She was fatally trampled by a wild elephant.

The harrowing incidents reported on Tuesday have heightened concerns over the persisting threat of man-animal conflicts in the region. These latest fatalities bring the death toll due to such conflicts to seven in the past five weeks in Kerala, with incidents reported from various districts including Wayanad, Idukki, Ernakulam, and Thrissur.
