WhatsApp Introduces Screen Sharing in Video Calls

WhatsApp has recently introduced a new feature that allows users to share their screens during video calls, enhancing communication and collaboration. By clicking on the ‘Share’ icon, users can select either a specific application or their entire screen to share with the call recipient.

The company stated that this new capability adds versatility to interactions, making it possible to share documents for work, browse photos with family, plan trips, shop online with friends, or even provide technical support to grandparents. This live screen sharing functionality enriches conversations by providing a real-time view of the user’s screen content.

Moreover, WhatsApp users can now enjoy video calls in Landscape mode on smartphones, providing a wider and more immersive viewing and sharing experience.

WhatsApp initially introduced video calling for all users in November 2016, marking a significant step in enhancing the platform’s capabilities. Additionally, WhatsApp has unveiled support for editing messages that include media with captions on iOS. This development enables users to refine their messages even after attaching media files.

In terms of user interface enhancements, WhatsApp is rolling out an updated UI featuring translucent bars and new action sheets. The redesign also extends to the sticker tray, which now boasts improved navigation and an expanded collection of stickers, including additional Avatars.

These updates are set to be gradually released over the coming weeks, according to the company’s announcement. Last month, WhatsApp had already introduced landscape mode support for video calls and the option to silence unknown callers on iOS.
