New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced its decision to independently contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Punjab and Chandigarh. AAP Convenor Arvind Kejriwal confirmed this during a function in Khanna, stating that there would be no alliance with the INDIA bloc in these regions.
Kejriwal further disclosed that the party will unveil its candidates for the 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab and the singular seat in Chandigarh within the next two weeks. This move by AAP signals a clear departure from any potential alliances and underscores the party’s determination to pursue its electoral objectives autonomously.
The decision to contest independently in Punjab and Chandigarh marks a significant development, particularly in the context of recent political dynamics. It also stands as a noteworthy counterpoint to the Congress, following Mamata Banerjee’s declaration that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) would similarly pursue a solo path in West Bengal.
