Bengaluru: Late Tuesday night saw Karnataka BJP taking decisive action, filing a police complaint against Rajya Sabha MP Naseer Hussain. The complaint demands legal repercussions for the Congress leader after his supporters purportedly chanted ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans within the Assembly premises while celebrating his victory in the RS polls.
BJP MLC N. Ravikumar and MLA Doddangouda Patil spearheaded the complaint, submitted to the Vidhana Soudha police station against Hussain and his supporters.
The complaint narrates the incident stating, “Following the Rajya Sabha elections at the Vidhana Soudha on February 27, Naseer Hussain and his supporters gathered near the counting area. Subsequently, at approximately 7 p.m., the returning officer declared Naseer Hussain duly elected. However, during the celebration, Hussain’s supporters allegedly raised ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans, insinuating support for Pakistan.”
Such actions, the complaint asserts, constitute a blatant insult to national honor and an affront to India’s integrity and sovereignty. It also points out that such slogans could incite public disorder and are punishable under Section 505 of the IPC, as well as the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971.
In response to the allegations, Naseer Hussain has refuted the claims, asserting that his supporters had actually chanted ‘Naseer Hussain Zindabad’, not the controversial slogan attributed to them. He has called for a thorough investigation into the matter, hinting at a possible conspiracy and urging reliance on advanced technology to ascertain the truth.
